~"The Paradox Of Our Age" By Dr. Bob Moorehead~
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

The paradox of our time in history is that
we have taller buildings but shorter tempers,
wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less.
We buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families,
more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense,
more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems,
more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much,
smoke too much,
spend too recklessly,
laugh too little,
drive too fast,
get too angry,
stay up too late,
get up too tired,
read too little,
watch TV too much,
and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions,
but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom,
and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living,
but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever,
but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion,
big men and small character,
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,
throw-away morality, one night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom
window and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
and a time when you can choose
either to share this insight,
or to just hit delete.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones,
because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone
who looks up to you in awe,
because that little person soon will grow up
and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug
to the one next to you,
because that is the only treasure
you can give with your heart
and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you?"
to your partner and your loved ones,
but most of all mean it.
A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it
comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands
and cherish the moment for
someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak
and give time to share
the precious thoughts in your mind.

They Believe in Their World.
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Yes, welcome back to my blog, I was about telling you how exciting my weekend was yersterday when my office hour elapsed and I had to pack my bag and baggage to go home.(smiles).

Anyway, life is such that whatever you gabbage in, you gabage out, and It would always be beautiful if we can believe in ourselves and our future regardless of the circumstance we find ourselves, someone says, "learn to laugh it off".

The four individuals i met over the weekend were such exciting fellows that put all these to practise despite their physical challenge and disablility. They truly inspired me. I met Paul, Vico, Mahel and Nobel (not realnames) at the Nigerian Police College Sport Ground, Ikeja on the 5th of April at the ACHILLES training session organised by MAARDEC. I was invited to be a part of this sporting event not because i suffer any of such disability, but as a fan of the MAARDEC group! And after the sporting session, we had time to discuss and talk on issues affecting us as youth, especially the less priviledged and disabled individuals. we discovered that we do not have a very supportive government who could help in improving the standard of living of the disabled citizens in the society. And, If life could be pretty difficult and challenging for those who are fit and not physically challenged, how much more for those who are?

What inspired me most about these guys was the fact that they didn't give in to the neglect and seldom discrimination they receive, rather, they believed in themselves and explored thier world with their innovative ideas and creativity. They specialise in artcrafts, Information Technology, Music, etc. "They are indeed running things" And, to my utmost surprise, one of them has been a member of TIG since the past 6 years!!! (surprise, surprise, I wonder where i was as at then!?? lol). As they had the opportunity to relate their passion, aspirations and vision with me, so, did I tell them about mine. We encouraged ourselves, and pray for the best outcome in our endeavours. It was such a nice network of friends.

"These people are shining so bright amidst difficult situation, they are giving in their best and I'm sure the best awaits them. what a challenge, girl". I thought.

To start with, I had a splendid weekend, as i had another priviledge to meet with some special people in my life. It was such a time, and i enjoyed the weekend meeting on Saturday, 5th of April, 2008. It was a gathering i won't forget in a jiffy.

Care to read more???. . . . Ok, I shall be back with the full gist tomorrow, (So sorry, it's just that i got to go now, but i promise, I'll be back with the full download. LOL.)

Best Regards.
